DIY Bracelet Made Of Fabric Remnants

A similar bracelet I saw some time ago on a billboard in Italy and I was fascinated. Unfortunately, I forgot the label of the bracelet on the poster. It could have been Etro or D&G. Regardless, finally, I have chosen the label “Dana” and show you here how to make a bracelet by yourself.

Material And Tools – For This DIY Project You Need

  1. beautiful, colorful fabric remnants (each about 2-3 cm long and 50 cm wide)
+ two slightly larger pieces of solid fabric or leather for the findings (about 8 x 14 cm)
  2. large chains
  3. elastic cord
  4. sewing kit
  5. glue gun (or fabric glue)
  6. decorative buttons
  7. scissors

Of course, you can also use fabric glue, but using it will take more time because the fabric glue dries slowly. You even can sew everything without the use of glue, but this method takes more time as well.

DIY Tutorial: The Step-By-Step Craft Instructions

DIY Step 1

Depending on how thick you want to have the individual bands, you take 3-6 strips of fabric and glue them up with a few drops of hot glue.

DIY Step 2

Bind a braid with the strips of fabric. I have made two different kinds of braids, for the first I took four bands and for the second one, I took six bands.

DIY Step 3

If you have enough braids for your bracelet (I made five of them), measure the size of your arm to determine how long the braids should be.

DIY Step 4

Now shorten the braids to the desired length and seal the ends with some hot glue.

DIY Step 5

Pull a piece of fabric through the chain links as shown. The fabric should be quiet a little bit thicker, so the chain links do not sit too loose on the fabric pulled through.

DIY Step 6

Knot the ends of the fabric and cut them too long ends.

DIY Step 7

Take a thick yarn to sew together the ends of each braid.

DIY Step 8

Now it’s time to make the findings. For this work, you take one of the broad fabric remnants and cut it to the bright of the bracelet. Then fold the fabric to about 6 cm length (see picture), fix it with a few drops of hot glue, and put a thick layer of glue on both sides.

DIY Step 9

Now turn around the fabric flap and press it down firmly on the braids.

DIY Step 10

Now the buttons get sewed on.

DIY Step 11

The findings are made of an elastic cord. Therefore cut off an elastic cord with 20 cm length…

DIY Step 12

… and with a sharp object (toothpick) make small holes into the fabric and pull through the cord like at the picture.

DIY Step 13

Strongly tie the cords on the backside of the fabric and fix them with hot glue on the fabric. Leave it for a time to dry.

DIY Step 14

Now repeat the work with the second fabric flap: Put much glue on both sides, turn it around and firmly press it. DONE!
