As some of you know, I “prefer” to sew pencil skirts ;). And because I still can not find time for a regular sewing course and the “sewing-always-again-pencil skirts” turned out to be boring, I searched for quick alternatives to get out a little more from my own tailored skirts.
Material And Tools – For This DIY Project You Need
- Skirt to spice up
- Lace
- Baking paper
- Electric iron
- Scissors
- Pins
- Iron-on hemming strip (mine is from Ikea)
DIY Tutorial: The Step-By-Step Craft Instructions
TIP: Before starting you should check somewhere on the inside of your skirt the hemming strip can be ironed on the skirt and the strip should not be visible after ironing.
DIY Step 1
Cut the iron-on hemming strip to the desired length and fix it on the top of the skirt with pins.
DIY Step 2
Now cut the lace fabric to the desired width and take it as a measure for the second hemming strip. Fix the bottom hemming strip on the skirt.
DIY Step 3
Temporarily fix the lace over the hemming strips. To adjust the lace to the waist of the skirt, make small incisions into the lace fabric.
DIY Step 4
Switch the electric iron to medium heat, put baking paper over the lace, and iron it at least 3 minutes on each part. DONE!
