Fashion DIY Tutorial: Choker from Drinking Straws

Cleaning up after a party in your own home is not one of my favorite activities. To lift my spirits a bit by such work, I like to think about what I could tinker with the remnants of the party paraphernalia. In this way, the idea of a choker with drinking straws was born.

Material And Tools – For This DIY Project You Need

  • drinking straws
  • thin satin ribbon
  • needle and thread (use thicker yarn)
  • dekospray in gold or silver
  • scissors
  • A cardboard box or similar (as a cover for color spraying)

DIY Tutorial: The Step-By-Step Craft Instructions

Cut the drinking straws to the desired length of about 4 to 5 centimeters (1.9 inches).

Thread the straws with a needle on the yarn.

Make two cuts in the cardboard box with the scissors and then tighten there the threads of the “straw-chain” to fix it for spraying. Now spray it from all sides with the Dekospray (according to the instructions on the can). Let it dry for a few hours, or better for one whole day.

TIP: Let some distance between the straws, to get the color on all parts of the straws.

Now knot well the two sides of the necklace and make two small loops.

Pull the satin ribbon through the loops and tie a pretty bow. DONE!
