The other day I was back at Ikea and, although I only accompanied my friend to the furniture store, I bought a lot of stuff. And fortunately, I have become weak. Otherwise, I would have left the super-soft knit bedspread “Gilda Strale” (which was cut-rat from EUR 14.99 to EUR 7.99) in its miserable existence as bedspreads and it never would have become a beautiful poncho.
Material And Tools – For This DIY Project You Need
- Ikea GILDA Strale bedspread or other knit blanket (dimensions: 130×170 cm)
- Pins
- A nice closure
- Needle and thread
- Measuring tape (not pictured)
DIY Tutorial: The Step-By-Step Craft Instructions
DIY Step 1
Fold the small side of the bedspread (from 130 to 65 cm) and fix it with pins.
DIY Step 2
Sew each side from the edge to a length of about 42 centimeters and leave the rest (the center) open. Take care to sew close to the border. So the seam will look almost invisible.
DIY Step 3
Put on your poncho in front of the mirror and determine the most appropriate place for the closure. Temporarily fix the closure with pins.
DIY Step 4
Sew the closure to the poncho. DONE!
