Slowly but surely we step forward into the second half of my DIY Advent calendar and I still have so many tutorials that I want to show you. Behind the “half time door” hides a very quick and simple tutorial on how to spice up an old belt.
Material And Tools – For This DIY Project You Need
- Lace (at least twice as long as the belt)
- Belt
- Felt strips (in the same width as the belt)
- Marker
- Needle and thread
- Measuring tape or ruler
- Hot glue gun
- Clothespins
DIY Tutorial: The Step-By-Step Craft Instructions
DIY Step 1
Wear the belt in front of a mirror and measure where you want to attach the lace. Mark the points on the belt with a pencil.
DIY Step 2
Now prepare a thread, which should be a little longer than the markings on the belt.
DIY Step 3
Pull the thread alternately from the front and the back through the middle of the lace by intervals of about 1 centimeter. With contracting the seams you get the gathers in the lace.

DIY Step 4
Apply some glue with the hot glue gun on the first marking.
DIY Step 5
Glue the lace to it and fix it with a clothespin. Continue gluing bit by bit. Again fix the end with a clothespin.
DIY Step 6
Finally, coat the middle of the fixed lace with glue and attach the felt strip to it. By this step, the lace gets somewhat “stiffer” with the felt and becomes a better hold as well. Further, the inside of the belt looks much better. DONE!
