Fashion DIY Tutorial: Studded Straps For Legwarmers And Socks

Recently Silke asked how to spice up legwarmers and Marie and I equally agreed to studs, buttons, or sequins will be the best solution for such a DIY work. Since the pointed studs on the cuffs could ruin the tights, the necessary safety precautions should be taken.

And since I prefer flexible solutions, these removable studded straps were created, which you can wear also on boots or socks, or take them as a bracelet as well.

Material And Tools – For This DIY Project You Need

  1. Two rubber bands ( measure the calf circumference and add two centimeters seam allowance)
  2. Ruler (or tape)
  3. Studs and a teaspoon for bending
  4. Scissors
  5. Marker
  6. Two small clip closures
  7. Sewing kit

If you can’t find any type of clip closures or decorative buckles, it works without them as well. Just use a rubber band and sew it together. This variation, however, is not wearable as a bracelet.

DIY Tutorial: The Step-By-Step Craft Instructions

DIY Step 1

Sew a clip closure at one end of a rubber band.

DIY Step 2

Measure the length of the rubber band and accordingly set marks for the studs.

DIY Step 3

Now attach the studs. A small spoon is the best tool for bending the pins at the back.

DIY Step 4

Sew another clip closure on the finished strap.

Here you see the finished studded straps.

DIY Step 5

Now attach two bows (from thin rubber thread or cord), so the straps will not slip down. DONE!

Fashion DIY Tutorial – Final Result “Studded Straps for Legwarmers and Socks”

Worn as a bracelet.

Worn “slipped” (this way I like the cuffs best)

Worn in the “regular” way.
