Like all previous “H & M / designer” collaborations also the last “ Lanvin for H & M “ collection left me rather cold. At the label however, through which I went with a fine-tooth com, I discovered this great necklace.
But EUR 525, – to spend for it? Well, then make it better myself. The Lanvin necklace indeed has these beautiful green feathers that I could not find, but my original black feathers come from lucky ducks from Lake Garda. Thus, each necklace does have its own advantages.
Material And Tools – For This DIY Project You Need
- Feathers in several colors
- Different necklaces (gold, silver, black, various sizes …) and a chain lock
- Pliers
- Hot glue gun
DIY Tutorial: The Step-By-Step Craft Instructions
DIY Step 1
Separate two 30 centimeters long different chains and twist them together.
DIY Step 2
Cut off the tough stems of the black feathers and coat some glue on the ends.
DIY Step 3
In approximately equally distances fix a few black feathers on the knotted chains. Take care to place the feathers between the single chain links if possible.
DIY Step 4
Place the necklace in a circle on the table like it will lay around the neck and glue the next layer of feathers to it. Now you can generously arrange the next feathers, so no empty spaces are visible.

Here’s the finished glued feather necklace.
DIY Step 5
Attach the chain with the largest chain links at the end of the feather necklace and open some chain links.
DIY Step 6
With the large-link chain you can hide some small “glue bloopers” by positioning the chain over the ends of the feathers and fix it with chain links to the feather chain.
DIY Step 7
Now mount the chains in shifted positions along the feather chain. We have photographed the back view of the necklace, so you can see where my chains are attached.
DIY Step 8
Now attach the “carrier-chain” including the chain lock. DONE!
